Mater Dei's Big Day
12 June, 2009
Mater Dei was delighted to welcome members of the Mater Dei Company for our Annual General meeting on Thursday 30th April.
This day is a wonderful opportunity to share the many successes of our School, Residential, Early Intervention and Development programs and to highlight the many successes of our students over the previous 12 months. The company members are made up of Sisters of the Good Samaritan and lay people who are experts in their field and can contribute to the good governance of our organisation.
The Company Members joined our staff for morning tea, had afternoon tea with our Leadership team and School Executive and met with out Board in the evening. This was a wonderful day and one that highlighted again the great vision of the Sisters in establishing Mater Dei and guiding it to become a wonderful provider of special education and services. The members of the company were most complimentary of our staff, students and of our very hardworking board led by Rob Burns. This was an excellent day and one that highlighted again the great support that Mater Dei receives from the Good Samaritan Order, our board and the community of the Macarthur.Visit from Hon. Paul LynchMater Dei was doubly blessed on Thursday 30th April, with a visit from Minister Paul Lynch and our local member Geoff Corrigan taking place, to gain an insight into what we do and to gain our perspective on how to improve services and access to services for parents of children with disabilities. This was a great opportunity to highlight areas of concern and to congratulate the state government on the positive initiatives that are underway in the state in the area of disability.
Minister for Ageing,
Minister for Disability Services, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs
Paul met with members of the Mater Dei Leadership team and then had afternoon tea with members of the Mater Dei Company and Board to gain their insights and advice on how best to provide services for children with disabilities. While this was a very busy day, it provided an excellent opportunity for Mater Dei to contribute to discussions in this very important area and to identify some positive initiatives that the state government could take to better support families at times of greatest need.
