The Goals

Live the Vision

As a united organisation, Mater Dei strives to live out the story of the Good Samaritan in its work for and with children with developmental delay, students and young adults with cognitive disabilities, their families and carers.

Develop as Centre of Excellence

Build on the current effective practice and expertise of the multi-disciplinary team. Establish Mater Dei as an innovative service provider for children with developmental delay, students and young adults with cognitive disabilities, their families and carers, schools, agencies, businesses and services that support their inclusion.

Build a Professional Community

Develop a multi-disciplinary team that is highly skilled, innovative, motivated, collaborative and recognises individual expertise as we focus on the realisation of the Mater Dei Vision.

Secure our Future

Take appropriate steps to build on the financial viability of Mater Dei in line with the Vision and Strategic Plan.

Live the Vision

  • Communicate the Mater Dei Vision
  • Strengthen strategic partnerships
  • Implement steps to ensure that the strategic plan "Sharing the Vision" is effectively implemented

Develop as a Centre of Excellence

  • Continue to develop and refine best practice approaches at Mater Dei
  • Provide consultancy services to other early childhood programs, primary and secondary schools, families and carers on a fee for service basis
  • Strengthen the support for the Wollongong Catholic Education Office in their provision of Special Education services on a fee for service basis
  • Develop Mater Dei models of satellite classes located in other schools on a fee for service basis
  • Become a provider of structured support for families and carers
  • Investigate the provision of comprehensive post school option programs for students with disabilities
  • Develop a master plan for the refurbishment of the current site
  • Develop a training program for Special Education teachers, teacher assistants, school leaders, residential staff etc, on a fee for service basis

Build a Professional Community

  • Investigate and address the professional development needs of all staff
  • Provide opportunities for Mater Dei staff to have experience across all programs
  • Employ new staff with appropriate expertise as the Centre for Excellence develops

Secure our future

  • Further develop a financial management approach that aims for financial security
  • Investigate and address all funding opportunities
  • Implement Phase II of the development program strategic plan
