The 2012 Mater Dei Country Fair was an outstanding success, and preliminary estimates indicate that we raised an unbelievable $23,000. We were so fortunate to have such beautiful weather, which was reflected in the number of people who came along and enjoyed the day. As I always say, this outcome would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the Country Fair Committee who work tirelessly all year and the volunteers who do a fantastic job on the day. Sincere thanks to all who participated or assisted in making this day the special event that it was.

Once again many thanks go to Paul Templeton from Narellan Toolbox for his ongoing support and generosity. Paul donated a Go-Kart, generator and pressure cleaner from his Toolbox Stores, and with the assistance of Andrew Gibbs, spent the day raffling off these prizes, raising over $1,700. Paul, you do this each year without question and it is greatly appreciated.

As per the past few years, the girls from St Patrick’s College gave up their time to come along and help where ever needed. You all did a fantastic job on the the face painting and Devonshire Teas. The Fair would not be the same without your ongoing support and presence. Thank you all very much and I hope to see you again next year.

The St Greg’s boys again did a great job helping to cleanup at the end of the day. Your ongoing assistance is greatly appreciated.

You are all a credit to your schools and parents. Our world would be a better place if we had more young people like you.

Our friends from St Thomas Moore again did their usual wonderful work on the Chocolate Wheel. Many, many thanks for your ongoing support and generosity.

This year we had a new group of friends from the Lion’s Club who gave up their time to assist with the BBQ, which at times was very hectic. Thank you all very much and I hope to see you next year.

To the Sisters of the Good Samaritan, Mater Dei staff, their family and friends, special thanks for your ongoing help and support.

And finally thanks to our special children who came along, had a great day and make it all worthwhile.

Don’t forget to put Sunday 13th October 2013 into your diary for next year’s Country Fair, and tell your family and friends to do the same.
