Our Country Fair
This year's Country Fair will be held on
Sunday 16th October 2011
The next Mater Dei P&F Fete Committee Meeting
will be held on Monday 21 st March 2011
Starting at 7pm at the School
The Mater Dei P&F Fete Committee would like to invite you to attend the first meeting for 2011. The Committee is always looking for new volunteers to help organize and run the annual Country Fair which is held in October each year. The Country Fair is a very successful fundraiser for the school - last year raising $20 000.
Unfortunately we will be losing valuable members of this Committee at the end of this year and next when their children leave school. It would be wonderful to welcome new members to the Committee this year to ensure a smooth transition when existing members leave.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the 21st March!
P & F News - October 2010
Doesn't time fly! Here we are in Term 4 with Christmas just around the corner and another fantastic Mater Dei Country Fair over for another year. Our prayers were answered, we had great weather and great support from the community. It looks like we again raised approximately $20,000 which is an unbelievable result for a school with only 130 students. This money will greatly assist in the education and wellbeing of our kids. This result would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of a handful of people who have worked tirelessly all year and the volunteers who done a fantastic job on the day. Many thanks to you all for ensuring this Mater Dei tradition continues to get better each year.
As I always say it is hard to thank everyone individually as you are sure to miss someone, but many, many special thanks must go to our Fair Coordinators Tricia Hedges and Dianne Beers for the time and effort they put into making the Fair the great success it was.
Many thanks must again go to Paul Templeton who donated a Go-Kart and a pile of tools from his Toolbox Stores to organise his own raffle which alone raised nearly $3,000.A great effort!!!
Very special thanks go to the Girls from St Patrick's College who again gave up their Sunday to run the face painting and helped out with the produce store. I was talking to two students who can't wait to come back next year despite having to study for the Higher School Certificate. You are a credit to your school and parents.
This year we were also honoured to have students from St Greg's, who also gave up their Sunday afternoon, to help with the cleanup at the end of the Fair. They were there to help but ended up doing nearly everything. Boys, you did a fantastic job, were very polite and again a credit to your school and parents.
Our future is in safe hands with young adults like these.
I must also thank those people and businesses that made generous donations of gifts for the Chocolate Wheel. Many of these came from families and friends of parents at the school. If you have any friends, family members or contacts who may wish to assist next year, please let us know. We would greatly appreciate it.
Speaking of Chocolate Wheels, thanks again to those fantastic people from St Thomas More who come back every year and spin that wheel. Thank you very much.
Many, many thanks must also go to the Sisters of the Good Samaritan and Mater Dei staff, their family and friends for their ongoing help and support which is always above and beyond the call of duty. You are special people.
And finally thanks to our special children who come along, have a great day and make it all worthwhile.
Next year the Country Fair will be held on Sunday 16th October 2011, so put it in your diary and tell your family and friends.
Just a reminder that our great car raffle will be drawn on 18th November 2010 and tickets are still available from the school or online at www.materdeicamden.org/car_raffle.
Remember the P&F Committee is all about helping our kids.
Kind Regards
Garry Saunders - P & F President
